Uberaba and Cat Zyon's first public monument
How the first monumental Cat Zyon sculpture entered the public landscape of Uberaba, Minas Gerais.

Uberaba, Minas Gerais, became the first city to receive a monumental Cat Zyon sculpture. The work was inaugurated on 13 June 2025 at Praça Pôr do Sol, in the Olinda neighbourhood.
A three-metre landmark
Created by Ramiro Silos and produced by Manoel Simon, the fibreglass sculpture stands three metres tall. Its scale brings Zyon's graphic identity into the urban landscape, where the work can be encountered during everyday movement rather than only during a scheduled cultural visit.
The location gives the sculpture a civic role. People can approach it from different directions, see it against the city and create their own records of the encounter. This accessibility is central to Cat Zyon's idea of public art: the work belongs to a shared visual experience.
The beginning of a wider programme
The monument did not stand alone in the project's relationship with Uberaba. In July 2026, a free exhibition at Galeria Rachel Machado expanded the public's contact with Zyon through approximately 40 works and an educational programme. Together, the outdoor sculpture and indoor exhibition showed two complementary scales of the same artistic universe.
Uberaba is also connected to the project's social-purpose model through SUPRA, the first confirmed beneficiary organisation. Cat Zyon does not publish impact figures or transfers that have not been documented. The partnership is presented with that limit clearly stated.
Why the first city matters
A first installation turns an idea into a public responsibility. It tests how character, material, site and local collaboration meet in practice. It also creates a reference for future destinations without suggesting that every city should simply repeat the same format.
Official coverage from the Municipality of Uberaba and the project's own records establish the date, place and authorship used here. Follow installed and proposed destinations on the exhibitions page, and learn about the local organisation in Meet SUPRA.
